In my dream especially towards the end I recall living in this loft in New York City. It was occupied by a couple other people as well. I think I was the only Black person who lived in the loft. However, there were a lot of visitors over who I was acquainted with. Towards the end I recall Country being there. I recall mentioning to him that I am about to leave and that my bags are packed by the door. There was a younger white female housemate with short blonde hair who might have been in their twenties or thirties that we both had a mutual appreciation for one another. Early in the dream she expressed her feelings for me, and even gifted me a picture of myself and a poem that she wrote for me. In the final part of my dream, she, I, the other housemates and guests were congregating near the kitchen in the loft/apartment. Then one of the other housemates went over and hugged her. From my vantage point or at least what I perceived it felt as if they had something going as well. I recall that she was a free spirit and I had accepted that and did not want to make an over emotional investment although I really liked her. In the final part of the dream, she leaves the kitchen and then goes to her room. I recall going to see her in her room. Her room had large windows with soft natural light beaming through, and was painted white with thise two columns in the middle of the room. She told me that she had five minutes before she had to leave. She was sitting on the floor behind this little floor desk writing and drawing. I asked her if she is writing something for me. She then wrote this short poem I was unable to read and drew a small sketch of my face. She would look up and smile at me while she was writing and drawing. I felt compelled to share my feelings about her to her, but I decided to appreciate sitting there with her, which felt good enough. I wanted for us to embrace but the proximity we shared with each other was the embrace. I wasn’t scared of being rejected; I didn’t want to create a sense of prolonged longing because I wasn’t certain if I was going to see her again since I was leaving. She was apparently leaving as well. Actually, all of us who stayed in that loft apartment was leaving at some point. Therefore, I sat there and appreciated her presence, how I felt happy being with her, I reflected on the intimate moment we were sharing with a sense of innocence and care, and thinking how this felt pure, untainted, and loving. I felt she exuded love. She was love. Therefore, maybe that’s why I didn’t have to proclaim my love to her because she already gave it to me, and all I had to was accept the conditions, knowing that love is free, and something you can’t tie down. Love can be the object of my affection, but love is not an object or a construct, but a raw etheric emotion that beats to the rhythm of its own drum. And, maybe that five minutes she mentioned was the time before I woke up. Maybe she was telling that the five minutes was all that we were going to have until I left from the dream space. Either way for the last five minutes of my dream I got to sit with love. Love doesn’t need words because love can sense love, love can feel love. And I loved her. And I loved myself. I loved myself enough to not go chasing love. I knew that when love was ready she (it) will find me. We have a connection that regardless how far a part will not be broken because it is true, pure, and unadulterated. I was still me in the dream, a Black man, same height, 5’7”, well built, lean, and I think I had a low cut haircut even on all sides, with a mustache.
